Even in the words that you use, Abijah, you put your finger on the meaning of life. You say you are depressed about the whole meaning of your life and your own purpose. And I think that’s right; I think you’re absolutely right that meaning consists in purpose — a good purpose, a wise, just, satisfying purpose or design for you or for the world. So,...

    • Made Worthy of His Calling. There is a being made worthy of the calling. Verse 11: “. . . that our God may make you worthy of his calling.” So, that’s what God is doing if you’re a Christian.
    • Good Resolves Fulfilled. There is a fulfillment, therefore — in the exercise of that being made worthy of the calling, there’s a fulfillment of our good resolves.
    • Power of God in Us. And the question is, how do those resolves become real — turn into deeds, get fulfilled? And that’s number four: by the power of God.
  4. God gave us His truths through His Word, and in them are all the answers to live an overwhelmingly happy and purposeful life. And not only that, but the promise to share an everlasting eternity together in heaven with the Father and the Son. I’m a Christian, you think, I’m forgiven, I read the Bible and I still suffer from despair, anger ...
