You or your school administrator unlinks your Compass Card. Your Compass Card is confiscated by a fare inspector. If your U-Pass BC gets unlinked from your Compass Card, please call the number on the back of your card (604.398.2042). Your U-Pass BC can also be removed from your Compass Card when your eligibility changes.
The fees for the U-Pass BC program are automatically added to your student fees. The U-Pass BC program costs $184.00 per term for the Winter academic term or $46.00 per month for Summer (subject to change) and is mandatory for all members of UBC's Alma Mater Society (AMS), excluding students who are enrolled in strictly distance education courses. The cost is included as part of your AMS student fees.
The cost of the U-Pass BC program is included in your student fees. Effective May 01, 2023, the U-Pass fee is $45.10 per month* ($180.40/term). *In 2019, an AMS referendum was held to seek approval of scheduled fee increases that include an annual U-Pass BC fee increase of up to 2% per year between 2020 and 2025.
The U-Pass BC benefit may only be used by the student registered to the online account, and who possesses valid student identification that matches the ID used to request the U-Pass BC benefit. If you are taking classes at two different institutions, you must carry and produce the ID for the institution whose U-Pass BC program you have linked to your Compass Card.
