    • We won't miss our old lives. Have you ever bought an economy ticket for a flight, but because of overbooking, been upgraded to first class? Did you regret the upgrade?
    • We won't become angels. I'm often asked if people, particularly children, become angels when they die. The answer is no. Death is a relocation of the same person from one place to another.
    • We won't be tempted. Once I was asked if we will ever be tempted to turn our backs on Christ. The answer is no. What would tempt us? Innocence is the absence of something (sin), while righteousness is the presence of something (God's holiness).
    • We will have work to do. The idea of working in heaven is foreign to many people. Yet Scripture clearly teaches it. When God created Adam, he "took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it" (Genesis 2:15).

    • Heaven is a physical place. Many people hold varying beliefs regarding the afterlife. Some deny it exists. Others feel there are stages one goes through before reaching a certain level of paradise.
    • Heaven is a place of inexplicable joy. Imagine a place free of pain, sorrow, sickness, and sin. Imagine having nothing to fear—not rejection, failure, loss, or death.
    • In heaven, we'll be surrounded by God. Before leaving Earth, Jesus prayed that the disciples would be one, just as He and the Father are one, “just as You,” speaking of the Father, “are in Me and I am in You… I in them and you in me.”
    • Heaven has an entry fee. God longs to remain eternally in relationship with us. But we’re a stubborn, rebellious species, bent toward self-destruction.
    • Highest Glory. The heaven where Christ will take us is not some lower place between earth and the highest heaven. Christ’s people are going to the heaven where God dwells, enthroned in glory.
    • Eternal Life. We will never leave heaven once we are there. God is called “the High and Lofty One who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy” (Isaiah 57:15).
    • Angelic Company. We have already noticed that in heaven we will be in the presence of God and Jesus. We will also be in the company of all the godly and holy humans who lived on earth through all its ages.
    • Victory Songs. Describing visions of Heaven, John says, “And they sang a new song” (Revelation 5:9). John saw a great multitude of the saved, who had endured tribulation, now singing and worshiping before the throne and the Lamb.
