Pinehurst No.3 poses the strongest challenge to the notion of the par-72, 7,000-yard standard of any golf course I have encountered.

With a long approach, best play is to use open area short right to run or bounce the ball onto the putting surface. Par is a great score here. PAR 3 - HCP 10/10. The longest par three on the course has a secure bailout just short right of the green.
