May 21, 2023 · The data available at the time suggested Canada could expect to see an average of 62 tornadoes per year, but there was an urban bias to the reporting. Powerful storms are common in the less densely populated parts of Canada, particularly central and northern Ontario and Quebec and the northern Prairies.

Dec 1, 2020 · The 2019 season was the first full campaign, systematically collecting research-quality tornado data across the entire country. To date, the project has found 89 tornadoes that otherwise would not have been identified, and increased the national tornado count in 2019 by 78%.
