In mathematics—namely geometry—and in real life, geometric shapes are two or three-dimensional figures that can be recognized and categorized based on a specific outline/boundary and other attributes including curves, lines, and angles.
- Ellipses. Ellipses are round, oval shapes in which a given point (p) has the same sum of distance from two different foci. Oval. An oval looks a bit like a smooshed circle—rather than being perfectly round, it's elongated in some way.

According to this intuitive understanding, the shape of an object is the external form or appearance of an object in space that can be represented by a set of lines oriented in some way.
