No one who has read Revelation carefully can claim all numbers in the book are literal or that all are symbolic. Personally, I don’t think the length of the millennium is a big deal. And am happy for it to be either a literal 1,000 years or symbolic for a long time, because the reality is that 1,000 years is a very long time!
The “millennium,” as a time of limited duration, is mentioned only in Revelation, a highly symbolic book. Because of the uncertainties of symbolic numbers in this book, we do not want to build a doctrine on this idea. The millennium is a doctrine the Bible does not speak about with a clear and loud voice.
