Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT) is a specialized form of music therapy that uses music as a therapeutic tool to address cognitive, sensory, and motor dysfunction caused by neurological conditions such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, Parkinson’s disease, and Alzheimer’s disease.
Music therapy is an evidence based clinical intervention, delivered by trained music therapists with the aim to help people achieve their therapeutic goals. It is becoming increasingly used to help people after a stroke to support people’s emotional, cognitive, physical and communication needs.
