DON’T regift your present. And if you’re forced to do so, take it out of the box to make sure it’s not personalized with your name on it. DO greet the hosts of the party, even if it’s the first time you’re meeting them. No need to prepare any prayers or dance. It’s a celebration! The debutante and her entourage (sometimes) will prepare a dance. For my debut, we did the waltz and cha cha. Then there’s the 18 roses/candles portion where 18 of her closest male friends/relatives hold a rose and 18 of her closest female friends/relatives hold a candle.
- Parents’ welcome speech. This is the perfect opportunity for your parents to thank everyone for attending your debut as well as formally introduce you to society.
- Debutante’s entrance. You can come out in a grand way, complete with confetti raining down on you as you sashay down an elegant staircase. Or you can keep it simple by just walking into the event venue, smiling and waving hello to everyone you see.
- Formal cotillion dance. lev radin / Shutterstock.com. Part of a more traditional debut, this can consist of a small number of people dancing an elaborate, choreographed waltz.
- AVP presentation. This is not a necessity but something that can keep your guests entertained as they eat dinner. You can opt to present photos of yourself over the years (and show everyone how cute you were as a kid!)
- Budget. Before you decide on anything else, you need to benchmark your budget first. Make sure to consult with your family regarding the spending plan.
- Guest List. You can now begin to determine the number of participants that you wish to invite based on the set working budget. Finalize the headcount before you move forward to planning catering services and the event venue.
- Theme. Now that you’ve finalized the guest list, you need to decide on the theme before you can eye for prospect venues. The theme will set the mood and ambiance of your event so make sure to plan it well.
- Date and Venue. When preparing for the big day, one of the most important considerations is the date and venue. For the schedule, you need to think of a day in which most people are most likely free and will have the chance to attend.
- A bottle of wine. You really can't go wrong with a good bottle of wine. Showing up at the door with a quality vino that pairs well with just about any dish is a pro-level party move that your host will appreciate.
- A fresh bouquet. Flowers are a thoughtful touch, but you want to make sure you're giving your host a gift, not a chore. A huge arrangement wrapped in tissue paper might be a stunning sight, but having to stop everything to hunt down a vase, trim stems, and make counter space is a less-than-ideal detour for your host to endure in the midst of a large gathering.
- Fresh fruit. Like a bouquet of flowers, fresh fruit can be a delightful way to invite color into your host's home without overshadowing their cooking skills.
- A simple salad. For informal gatherings where grilled meats are the star, a simple chopped salad could be the fresh addition your host is looking for.
Jul 22, 2022 · Well, except one color. Many debutante balls require the debutantes to wear white gowns (some even require a full skirt). Even though there's not a written rule against guests wearing white dresses, much like one wouldn't wear a white dress to a wedding, skip the white attire for this occasion too.
