Dec 6, 2023 · With its colorful architecture, impressive (and uncrowded) monuments, a lively student population, low prices, and some of the best food in Italy, Parma is an extremely easy place to fall in love with.
- Duomo (Cathedral) Filling an entire side of the Piazza del Duomo is the cathedral, a Romanesque basilica dating from the 12th century, its broad facade making an impressive ensemble with the church's 63-meter campanile and the tall octagonal baptistery just to its left.
- Baptistery. To the right of the cathedral in Piazza del Duomo, the massive octagonal marble Baptistery was begun in the Romanesque style in 1196 by Benedetto Antelami, who completed the biblical reliefs carved on the doorways.
- Teatro Farnese (Farnese Theater) Inside the enormous Palazzo della Pilotta, the palace theater was built entirely in wood by a pupil of the great Italian architect Andrea Palladio.
- Teatro Regio (Royal Theater) However plain it may be on the outside, prepare to be wowed by the interior of one of Italy's finest theaters, the neoclassical Teatro Regio.
- The Cathedral and the Baptistery of Parma. The Parma Cathedral, boasting 900 years of age, it is a sacred place of art and history. The Roman bas-reliefs of Antelami and the grandiose frescos of Allegri emanate devotion.

- The Pilotta Palace and the Farnese Theater. At just 100 meters from the central square of the city is Piazza della Pilotta that hosts the Palazzo della Pilotta, an unusual building inside which is the National Gallery, the National Archaeological Museum and the ancient Teatro Farnese.
- The Teatro Regio. The neoclassical style of Teatro Regio attracts many tourists. Its appearance is thanks to the Countess Maria Luisa, wife of Napoleon, who initiated its construction in 1820 and closely followed the works of decoration.
