The "Fish Cheer" came about in August 1968 at a show in New York City's Central Park when McDonald came up with it on the fly. The tune is based on ragtime music, which is why the song is a "rag."

  5. i’d say with the glorious album that was electric music for the mind and body, the fish did a great job following up with a more deep cut album with fuzzy guitars and haunting vocals throughout. and of course the antiwar title track with the humor sound with the deeper message-possibly showing how “funny” in a sense it was to send young men to die. just a thought
