  6. Forge was the first one (out of those two, Risugami's ModLoader is even older afaik). The reason why there was the "split" when Minecraft 1.13 were the changes in Vanilla Minecraft code combined with Forge's rewriting of some of its code (and also some people had issues with the dev team).
