Grafton is a semi-rural town in east central Massachusetts lying southeast of the City of Worcester. The population according to the federal census in 2010 was 17,765. Grafton was originally occupied by a tribe of Nipmuc Indians and was called Hassanamisco (place of small stones).

The Grafton, Mass., historic hilltop district looks more like a classic Vermont village green town than a border town to Worcester -- the second most populated city in New England. For a Boston area resident like me, visiting downtown Grafton is a nice option if not wanting to travel three hours to Vermont.
