Construction of the irrigation system began in 2013. Retention ponds (including a 16-million-gallon main distribution pond), pumping stations, mainlines and roads were planned and established.

But McDougall's father-in-law, John Horan, had other ideas, and McDougall ended up back in an orchard — the historic Horan Bros. orchard on the north side of the Wenatchee River where it flows into the mighty Columbia.
