It tells the story of a strange, glowing fog that sweeps over a small coastal town in Northern California. Filmed in the spring of 1979, The Fog was scheduled to be released at Christmas that year by AVCO Embassy Pictures, but its release date was delayed to February 1, 1980.
Many interiors for The Fog, though, (including John Houseman’s beach prologue) were filmed at Raleigh Studios, 5300 Melrose Avenue, in Hollywood, where parts of Carpenter's Assault On Precinct 13 had been filmed.
