The difference between F# and IronPython/Ruby is that F# was basically ready when VS2010 was being planned (late 2007), and already had some VS integration they could build off of. IronPython 2.0 (the first DLR-based release) was still in Alpha at that time, with no VS integration.
IronPython is a pretty much a zombie project. They are way behind schedule for releasing a Python 3.x compatible version and Python 2.x is no longer supported by the broader community. If those APIs are written in Python 2.x you might get away with it, but it's not a long term solution. 3.
Oct 24, 2011 · Realizing that Python is a dynamic language, which makes it difficult to mix with a (largely) statically typed language like C# (though this is seemingly getting easier with .NET 4.0), there are options like IronPython which can help match up the two languages. I've never come across any other options for dovetailing Python libraries with .NET.

Aug 22, 2008 · Inside the unzipped files you’ll find the main IronPython executable, ipy.exe. If you run that with no arguments, you get an interactive console window where you can start typing Python code directly. Alternatively, you can pass the name of a python file as the first argument, and IronPython will execute that code.
