Canadians who are blind or visually impaired

The best place to get a guide dog. We train Seeing Eye dogs to guide blind people, instruct blind people in their proper use, handling, and care, and conduct and support research on canine health and development.
Who Can Get a Guide Dog? Canadians who are blind or visually impaired, at least 16 years of age, and can travel independently can apply for Seeing Eye® dogs.
To apply to adopt a dog from The Seeing Eye, you must contact our Adoptions Team Staff. They can be reached at either 973-539-4425 ext. 1844, or you can set up a time to call at DogAdoptions@SeeingEye.org. They will send you either a link to fill out the application online, or a copy of the application to adopt via either mail or e-mail.
We believe everyone who would like to have a guide dog should have that opportunity. At CNIB Guide Dogs, we raise, train and match dogs with Canadians who are blind or partially sighted. We also raise our voices to ensure people with sight loss have opportunities to live, work and play without barriers. Read more.

Changing Lives, One Dog at a Time. If you’re a blind or visually impaired person over age 16 who believes you can benefit from the independence, confidence, and ease of mobility that a guide dog brings, you can apply for a Seeing Eye ® dog.
For each new supporter who includes The Seeing Eye in their estate plans, a special donor will make a $500 gift. The Seeing Eye's mission is to enhance the independence, dignity and self-confidence of people who are blind, through the use of specially trained Seeing Eye ® dogs.
