Origin of Bob Books. Bob Books came about as a result of teacher Bobby Lynn Maslen’s careful attention to the specific needs of children learning to read for the very first time. As a teacher, Bobby’s work with 3 to 5 year-olds involved constant invention in art, math, physical growth activities and, of course, reading materials.
Bob Books. Bob Books was the brainchild of Bobby Lynn Maslen, a preschool teacher at Catlin Gabel School in Portland from 1968 to 1980. Her students had a desire to be readers and to discover how words and pictures tell a story, and she searched for engaging books that used the letter-sound concepts they were learning.
