Feb 28, 2017 · Published Feb 28, 2017. One of UNMC’s longtime supporters, Nancy (Roker) Armitage, died Monday at her home following more than a year-long battle with pancreatic cancer. Armitage, who is the wife of James Armitage, M.D., a legendary oncologist at UNMC and its clinical partner, Nebraska Medicine, was 70.

The Armitages will receive the "Samaritan of the Year Award" from the Samaritan Counseling Center of the Midlands at a Thursday dinner at Omaha's Holiday Inn Central Convention Center, 3321 S. 72nd St.
Feb 27, 2017 · In Nancy’s honor and to recognize her cancer fight, friends and family helped to establish the Nancy Armitage Pancreas Cancer Clinical Research Professorship in 2016. The permanently endowed fund at the University of Nebraska Foundation will provide annual support to a faculty member at UNMC and will help the university to attract and retain a top expert in pancreatic cancer clinical research.
