The State Board of Education is composed of the Oklahoma State Superintendent of Public Instruction and six members appointed by the Governor of Oklahoma with the approval of the Oklahoma Senate.
The Department is led by the Secretary of Education and the State Superintendent of Public Instruction (who is the Chair of the State Board of Education). Under Governor Kevin Stitt, the Education Secretary is Dr. Katherine Curry and Ryan Walters serves as State Superintendent.
