May 25, 2010 · Founded in 2005, the ADHD Clinic at the Children's serves children with complex, treatment-resistant cases of ADHD - those who need more help than family doctors or schools can give. At the Clinic, children are evaluated by a team of psychologists, pediatricians and nurses, and are referred to the appropriate specialists in Neurology, Psychiatry, and Developmental Pediatrics if necessary.
ADHD is a neurological condition, which means that it has to do with how the brain works. The front part of our brain controls executive function skills, like planning and paying attention. A child with ADHD may face challenges with these skills. ADHD symptoms usually start before age 12 and may be noticeable as early as age three.
