Jan 4, 2022 · Reuben was the firstborn son of Jacob by Leah and the forefather of one of the twelve tribes of Israel. The story of Reuben in the Bible is told in Genesis chapters 29–50. Reuben’s mother Leah became the wife of Jacob by a cunning trick (Genesis 29:15–30).
- Reuben. Reuben was the firstborn son of Jacob with his wife Leah. His birth is recorded in Genesis 29:32 – “And Leah conceived and bore a son, and she called his name Reuben, for she said, ‘Because the Lord has looked upon my affliction; for now my husband will love me.'”
- Simeon. Simeon was the second son born to Jacob through Leah. Genesis 29:33 states – “She conceived again and bore a son, and said, ‘Because the Lord has heard that I am hated, he has given me this son also.’
