Lloyd Llewellyn-Jones was born in Cefn Cribwr, Wales, and studied at the universities of Hull and Cardiff. Having worked for more than a decade at the University of Edinburgh, Lloyd is currently Professor of Ancient History and Persian Studies at Cardiff University.
