- Samuel S. Wurtzel, founder of Circuit City Stores Inc., died Thursday at his home in Mount Kisco, N.Y. He was 78 years old. Mr. Wurtzel was born in Sea Bright, N.J. In 1949 he moved to Richmond and founded the Wards Company. He developed that store into Circuit City Stores, a chain with more than 100 outlets.
