Sandy McDonald, a former Church of Scotland moderator and father of the actor David Tennant, has died aged 78. The Very Rev Dr McDonald, who lived in Paisley and served as moderator of the Kirk’s general assembly from 1997 to 1998, had been suffering from pulmonary fibrosis, the degenerative lung disease.
