American Psycho is a horror novel by American writer Bret Easton Ellis, published in 1991. The story is told in the first-person by Patrick Bateman, a wealthy, narcissistic, vain Manhattan investment banker who lives a double life as a serial killer.

The biography was first published by Daniel Farlatus in 1765. Evidence about Marulus's volume on psychology is provided also by authors of the 17th (Marcus Dumaneus) and 18th century (Julije Bajamonti). The work was written prior to 1524 and probably in the 1510s.
