Dec 4, 2023 · Considering I've gotten a lot of games that were completely clean to work that couldn't load originally several times just from adjusting the way that I inserted them in the cart, there is more than just dirtiness going on or contact problems. there is definitely some wonkiness around the 2600 plus load cycle and certain games. especially games that do not have normal cartridges.
Unresponsive Joystick. Check the Controller Port Connection: Make sure the controller is securely plugged into the port. If it’s loose, the joystick might not respond. Test Another Controller: If available, try another Atari 2600 controller to see if the problem persists. If the new controller works, the issue is likely with the original one.
Dec 14, 2023 · Yeah, that one's a bigger problem for sure. My Asteroids 7800 cartridge loaded just fine after I got it all cleaned up, ("cleaned and tested" from an Ebay seller) but I can't play the game with the CX40+ controller. The button isn't fire, which also starts a game, so it must be hyperspace. That's a problem.
Currently no way to play two-button 7800 games, but they've announced that a new 2-button 7800 controller is coming, so that will apparently be fixed. The 2600+ does actually work with the Harmony Cart if you just load one game on the card and don't use the menu. edit: Also it does not work with 4:3 LCD monitors, only 16:9 resolutions.
Try cleaning the cartridges' edge connector with isopropyl alcohol. Removing the covers isn’t always easy without tearing the labels. It’s possible, but not always easy. I use some isopropyl alcohol or deoxit on the contacts and try to clean them by scraping them slightly with a small and thin flat screwdriver.

Nov 22, 2023 · The 2600+ outputs a 720P signal. Although it seems this isn't quite a standard 720P signal as my TV takes a second or two to lock in and show the output. Also, my capture device in the game room usually has no issue with 480P, 720P, and 1080P sources. But it does NOT like the 720P from the 2600+ and stays in pass through mode.
