Jun 9, 2023 · In every situation (some of which we’re going to read about shortly), God changed a person’s name so they would understand that He was giving them a new beginning. Gone were the things that had defined them up until that point.
The new names that God gave to Abraham and Sarah did not in itself change them. Rather, it reflected the change God was performing in them. It marked the end of one chapter and the beginning of a new life. Consider that Abraham was 99 years old when God gave him a new name, and Sarah was 90.
