   I don't have the technical reason as to why it takes so long to load, but I've read here that a large focus for Forge going into 1.13 is to solve this issue through better hardware utilization. (Multi threaded and asynchronous loading?)

   Jun 5, 2019 · The way the game mods work, they are a bunch of loose files (my mods folder is 12,000+ files) and an HDD takes a long time to access and read them all into memory. I don't really like it either. I'd much rather have that 170GB of SSD space back, but I couldn't stand the load times even when I had the game on 2X RAID 0 HDDs.

   • There's a mod called Loading Profiler, it can track each mod took how long to finished loading. Some mods will make games loading time gets longer like Decocraft... I suggested is the mod problem because my computer is much more shitter than you. i5-6400, HDD, i can run 200 mods in 7 min in 1.12.2 or so.

   Why do mods take so long to load from JSON?

   • And since every mod has alot of items & block it needs alot of stuff to load from the json. The main issue is this happen on a single thread (because nothing was written threadsave in the first place) So by utilising more threads we could at least half the loading time.

   Why do most mods run on a single thread?

   • Mostly the single thread everything runs on. Doesn't matter how many processor cores you have, 95% of the work is done on a single one because mods usually need an order to load everything, the last 5% is trivial things mod makers could put on hold while everything else loads but that's rare.
