    • He is the revelation of God

      • He must be exalted because he is the revelation of God. He reveals God to us. Paul says he is the “image” of the invisible God. The word “image” is eikon in the Greek, which means “an exact representation and revelation,” 2 and was used of an idol, picture, or statue.

  4. Instead of trying to exalt themselves, Paul calls on them to emulate the humility that is in Christ, whom God ultimately exalts to the highest place. "Your attitude [500] should be the same as that of Christ Jesus."

  5. Sep 17, 2019 · Paul calls this “another gospel” in Galatians 1:8 and is thereby worthy of condemnation. So this is not just ancillary doctrine that we can kind of hash over. This is core tenets of the faith.

  8. Jul 30, 2012 · One of my favorite passages of scripture is in Paul’s letter to the Philippians, which appears to be a quote from an early Christian hymn or creed. A hymn of exaltation for Jesus and what he has done for us. And since Philippians was written by 62 AD, it would have indeed been an early hymn.
