The wood CT imaging system is mainly used to identify and detect the internal structure of wood. In order to research growth laws of cracks, knots, and tree rings in different scanning sections, a small diameter log was taken as the scanned object.
Jun 24, 2024 · While, based on the Inside Wood exercise, scans between 3 µm and 8 µm are optimal for wood identification, in some cases small-scale features only visible at 1 µm resolution can be diagnostically important.
Imaging wood will help imagine new functionalities and properties. To realize this, collaboration between different disciplines (e.g., biochemists, chemists, material scientists, and engineers) will be necessary to bridge knowledge gaps from nano- to building scale.

Jul 1, 2019 · We establish an efficient and reliable method of wood identification that combines a non-destructive and non-invasive laboratory-scale tool, X-ray computed tomography (CT), with machine learning for image recognition. We selected six hardwood species used to create the Tripitaka Koreana and obtained the X-ray CT data of its woodblocks.
