- You've merely toggled the display of Field Codes rather than Field Results. The other systems display the results because those users haven't toggled the view of Field Codes on... It's a local setting which does not travel with the document. Press Option+F9 [or fn+Option+F9 on a laptop] to toggle display of the Results.

Microsoft has so far not updated APA or many of the other citation styles to the latest versions, even in Word 2021 or Microsoft 365. making the built-in styles useless for academic papers.

Jun 8, 2019 · Since the recent updates, citations have not been displaying correctly in MS Word. They are truncated - only author names or only title & year gets displayed. All attributes are not displayed.
