The answer is that you’re overthinking it. Survivor has always gone through “good” and “bad” eras, but even the worst seasons are still well-made TV. Fans thought Survivor was bad during 13/14, 21-26, 38/39, etc. We get like 3 of these posts a day saying absolutely nothing new.
True. BB was the one thought of as strategy-based reality show at that time. That's why strategy nerd Rob Cesterino applied to be in BB and not Survivor. Ironically his appearance in Survivor would be one cornerstone in turning Survivor into a more strategy-based game. Today, strategy nerds like him are more likely applying to be in Survivor ...
