I recommend doing the monolingual transition with Yomichan. Yomichan is a browser extension that allows you to look up Japanese words on a webpage by holding Shift and hovering over it. It is supported by any Chromium or Firefox based browser. You can find out how to set up Yomichan here

I use スーパー大辞林 as the reference dictionary on my iphone: go to Settings → General → Dictionary, then click on “Japanese” to set it up. To use it: instead of copy+pasting unfamiliar words into jisho.org, click the “look up” option just to the right of “copy” in the menu that pops up when you highlight a word.
