Dec 26, 2017 · A previous merger attempt between the Scarborough Hospital (Birchmount, General) and the Rouge Valley Health System (Centenary, RVHS Ajax) failed in 2014. After listening to an expert panel, Ontario Health Minister Dr. Eric Hoskins backed its recommendations and ordered the three Scarborough sites to merge by Dec. 1, 2016.

Mar 17, 2014 · Plans for a merger between the Rouge Valley Health System and The Scarborough Hospital have been put on hold due to financial issues. Boards from each hospital held separate meetings on Saturday, March 15, to discuss moving forward with the oft-talked about a plan that would see the two hospitals combine in an effort to save money and improve patient care on a long-term basis.
Apr 28, 2017 · Ontario’s health minister has directed hospitals within Scarborough and Durham Region to merge, and will hear public comments on his decision until mid-November. Dr. Eric Hoskins’ order, announced Friday, Oct. 14, will break up the Rouge Valley Health System, merging its Centenary campus in Scarborough with The Scarborough Hospital to form a new hospital corporation there.
