Jun 25, 2021 · Here’s a quick look at some of the ways Windows 11 will come to life on Surface Pro X. If you have been considering a Surface, there’s no need to wait. Check out Surface.com to choose the device best suited for you and learn which will be ready for a free upgrade to Windows 11 when it’s available.
With Windows 11, Microsoft seems to be finally integrating these two worlds in a way that makes sense for Windows and does not simply try to mimic iOS or Android. I'm optimistic about how this could play out for the platform.
All Surface devices that are compatible with Windows 11 will eventually receive the 2024 Update. However, while these devices may be eligible for the update, newer Surface driver and firmware updates will only be provided to devices that are still within the servicing period as documented in the Surface devices driver and firmware lifecycle for Windows-based devices .

- How we're rolling out the free upgrade to Windows 11
Newer Surface devices come with Windows 11 already installed. Other Surface devices can be upgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 11.
To see if your device is compatible:
1.Look for your device in the list of Surface models that can be upgraded to Windows 11. If you're not sure which Surface device model you have, look in the Surface app. For more info, see Find out which Surface model you have.
2.Use the PC Health Check app to find out if your device has any other requirements you need to meet (for example, Secure Boot capability).
The free upgrade to Windows 11 is available based on hardware eligibility, reliability metrics, the age of your Surface, and other factors.
If you have a Windows 10 PC that's eligible for the upgrade to Windows 11, Windows Update will let you know when it's available. You can also check on your own by going to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for updates.
