- See Esther Short Park. The green space located in downtown Vancouver is the oldest public square in the entire state. Created in 1853, it’s overseen by the 69-foot Salmon Run Bell Tower, which is home to 35 cast bronze bells chiming every 15 minutes, from the morning hours to later in the evening.
